Nazneen — Hand-Embroidered Full Jaal Chikankari Saree

Rs. 5,200.00

A thousand stitches, and not one of them loud.

Most embroidered sarees concentrate their work where it will be seen — a rich pallu, a worked border, and a body that quietly thins out in between.

Nazneen doesn't do that. It is a full jaal: the embroidery covers the whole cloth, shoulder to hem, at the same density throughout.

  • FABRIC & FEEL
A fine, sheer ground with a soft, featherlight fall. A loose fold catches the light; the pleated body stays modestly opaque. [Fabric composition to be confirmed with supplier — updated once verified.]
  • THE EMBROIDERY — WHAT JAAL MEANS
Chikankari is the white-thread embroidery of Awadh, and jaal is its most demanding layout: an all-over trellis of florals and paisleys worked edge to edge, with no plain ground left to rest in. A border piece can be finished quickly. A full jaal cannot — every inch of it is hand-worked.

On Nazneen that work is done in white on a rose ground, dense enough that from a distance the colour reads as texture rather than flat pink.
  • PALLU
No contrast border interrupts the field. The pallu closes in a soft scalloped edge rather than a straight hem, and carries no tassels.
  • BEST WORN FOR
Festive daytime occasions, weddings you are attending rather than hosting, and any gathering where you would rather be looked at twice than noticed immediately.
  • STYLING
Styled here with a rose blouse and minimal pearl-and-gold jewellery — chikankari sits better against pearl than against heavy gold.
  • CARE
Dry clean recommended. If washing at home, hand wash alone in cold water without wringing or brushing — hand embroidery on a sheer ground will not survive rough handling. Dry flat in shade. Store folded in breathable cloth, refolded along a different line occasionally so the embroidery isn't creased in one place.
  • WHY WE CHOSE THIS PRODUCT
Our name means the house of Awadh, and until now we had not carried the embroidery Awadh is actually known for. We waited for a full jaal rather than a bordered piece, because the shortcut in chikankari is always the same one — beautiful pallu, empty body — and it is the shortcut most buyers only notice after the saree arrives.
