Gulaal — Rose Pink Shibori Tie-Dye Cotton Saree

Some sarees are printed to look hand-made. This one actually is.

Gulaal is a shibori-style tie-dye — the cloth resist-dyed so the pink soaks into the white with soft, feathered edges, never the hard outline of a print. Up close, no two areas are alike; that irregularity is the mark of a genuine resist-dye rather than a stamp.

• THE COLOUR
  A bright, happy rose-pink bloomed across clean white — cheerful without being loud. It lifts an ordinary day.
• THE CRAFT
  Shibori: a resist-dye technique where the fabric is folded, twisted or bound before dyeing, so the dye can't reach the protected parts — leaving white, with soft bleeding transitions where the pink takes. 
• FABRIC & FEEL
  Soft matte mulmul cotton — light, airy, easy to drape, and comfortable through a full day, especially in the heat. Like all cotton, it softens with each wash. A deep-pink border runs along the pallu, finishing in chunky pink-and-white tassels.
• BEST WORN FOR
  Work, daytime outings, house gatherings, small celebrations — any day you want colour and ease together.
• STYLING
  Shown here with a deep-pink blouse and oxidised silver jewellery — silver stays clean and fresh against the bright pink, and a matching pink blouse grounds the white so the frame doesn't go pale. A white blouse would keep it lighter and more summery. 
• CARE
  Soft cotton, so treat it kindly. Hand wash separately in cold water for the first few washes, dry in shade to keep the pink vivid, and use a cool-to-medium iron. Store folded in a breathable cloth bag.

  We wanted an everyday cotton with real craft in it — not a print pretending to be hand-work. Shibori gives you that: a genuine resist-dye, in a bright pink you can wear on an ordinary Tuesday.
