The body is a soft ivory mercerized cotton — a fine cotton with a gentle sheen — scattered with small red flower-buti like little stars. A fine red Assamese-style motif border runs the full length of the saree, and the pallu deepens into a rich red pattern finished with cream tassels. The matching blouse carries the same red border at the sleeve.
Cream and red is the oldest, calmest pairing in Assam — festive without being loud, dressed-up without effort. Mercerized cotton keeps the ivory clean and the red crisp, and stays light and soft to wear.
