Prabha Off-White Handloom Cotton Saree with Red Border | Awadhalaya
Ivory and red. The colours that have always known each other.
Ivory and red have been dressing Indian women for centuries. Not because someone decided they belonged together. Because they simply always have.
Prabha is woven in fine handloom cotton — lightweight, smooth, the kind of fabric that falls without effort and holds its pleats without stiffness. The body is warm ivory — not bright, not cold. Across it, small red boteh motifs are scattered with the unhurried spacing of something woven by hand, each one complete, each one leaving room for the ivory to breathe.
A woven red border runs the full length at both edges. Precise, medium-width, the red matching the motifs exactly.
The pallu builds into something different. Layered geometric bands across its full width — fish motifs, chevron rows, triangular borders — woven in red on ivory, the density increasing as it reaches the hem. Finished with white and red tassels.
A morning puja. A family occasion. The kind of day you dress for because you want to.
