Neelambari — Indigo Ajrak-Inspired Modal Saree | Awadhalaya
Rs. 2,299.00
Indigo at its quietest.
Some blues don't need to be loud to be remembered. Neelambari is that kind of blue — a deep indigo modal saree traced with fine white stripes, grounded by a black temple border and an ajrak-inspired pallu that tells its story in medallions, small birds and geometric bands of red, cream and indigo.
It reads quiet from across a room, and rewards a closer look — the print giving up its detail only when you're near enough to see it.
-
FABRIC & FEEL
Modal — a soft cellulosic fabric known for its fluid fall and gentle sheen. Cool to the touch, light against the skin, and easy to drape. It moves when you move and settles softly when you stop — comfortable through a long day and graceful into the evening. -
PRINT & BORDER
An ajrak-inspired print runs across the saree: fine white stripes over a deep indigo ground, framed by a black temple (kungri) border with its row of pointed white triangles. -
PALLU
The pallu is where the saree opens up — concentric medallions and rows of small bird motifs in indigo, deep red and cream, layered between fine geometric bands and finished with maroon tassels. -
BEST WORN FOR
Workdays that deserve a little more. Cultural outings and gatherings. Relaxed festive evenings. The kind of saree that suits a Tuesday as easily as a celebration. -
STYLING
Pairs with a black, indigo, ivory or rust blouse. Oxidised silver — jhumkas, a stack of bangles, a statement ring. Hair loose or in a low bun, and let the pallu do the talking. (Neelambari comes with an unstitched modal blouse piece; the black blouse worn by the model is for styling only and is sold separately.) -
CARE
Gentle hand wash separately in cold water for the first few washes, with a mild soap. Do not soak or wring. Dry in shade. Light iron on the reverse if needed. -
WHY WE CHOSE THIS PRODUCT
Indigo and ajrak are two of the best-loved languages in Indian textiles — and together they usually carry a price that keeps them for special occasions. Neelambari brings that look into something you can wear often: modal keeps it light, fluid and easy; the indigo reads considered rather than costume; and the price keeps it within reach. A saree built to be used, not saved. -
