Kaveri — Black Mangalagiri Cotton Saree | Woven Stripe | Awadhalaya
Some colours do not ask for attention. They simply hold it.
There is a kind of restraint that takes more confidence than colour.
Kaveri is black. Not charcoal, not dark navy — black. And woven through it, a running stripe in silver-white: thin, precise, repeating. The stripe does not decorate the saree. It structures it. Gives it a rhythm. Makes it impossible to stop looking at.
The fabric is Mangalagiri cotton — one of South India's oldest handloom traditions, woven on pit looms in the town of Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. The weave is tighter than a typical cotton saree, giving it a natural body and slight sheen that no printed fabric can replicate. It drapes with weight. It holds its shape across a long day. And it gets better with every wash — softer, more lived-in, more yours.
This is not a saree for a single occasion. It is the saree that goes from an important meeting to a festive evening without asking you to change. The stripe is formal enough for a boardroom and quiet enough for a puja. The black ground works with everything — gold jewellery, silver jewellery, a simple bindi, flowers in the hair.
The pallu carries the same stripe rhythm as the body, finishing at the hem with small black tassels. No border contrast, no colour break — the whole saree is one continuous thought.
The blouse shown in images is a black sleeveless styling blouse, for visual reference only. An attached blouse piece is included with the saree. No additional blouse material will be provided.
Crafted in limited small-batch production. Once this batch is gone, restock is not guaranteed.

🌿 FABRIC & FEEL
Handloom Mangalagiri cotton — tightly woven, substantial, with a natural slight sheen from the weave. Not sheer. Holds its drape across a full day. Gets softer and more beautiful with every wash. The woven stripe cannot be replicated by printing — it is in the structure of the fabric itself. -
✦ BEST WORN FOR
Office meetings, formal occasions, festive evenings, pujas, cultural programmes, weddings as a guest, any day you want to feel composed without effort. -
✦ STYLING TIP
Oxidised silver jhumkas and stacked bangles — as shown. A small bindi. Hair in a low bun or loosely pulled back. The saree does the rest. Avoid statement jewellery that competes — this saree works through restraint, not addition. -
🧺 CARE
Gentle hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not wring. Dry flat in shade. Light iron on low heat. The fabric improves with every wash.
