Asmani — Blue Chikankari Modal Kurta

Asmani means "of the sky." We gave the name to the one colour a wardrobe of whites and pastels usually leaves out — a clear cornflower blue, worked over in fine white chikankari.

Chikankari, most of the time, is white on white — beautiful, but easy to save for the occasions. Asmani puts it on a colour instead, for an ordinary good day.

The embroidery is fine white chikankari: a worked panel around the neckline and down the placket, florals scattered across the body and growing denser toward the hem, and motifs at the cuffs. It sits on a soft, fluid modal with a gentle sheen — the kind of cloth that falls easily and moves with you rather than holding a shape.

Worn here over plain white trousers with a little gold, it's a full outfit that asks almost nothing of you. Light enough for a working day, finished enough to wear out.
